VALORANT - April Fools - Widejoy

This began as a meme from the VALORANT community when our team accidentally uploaded a portrait of Killjoy into landscape banner. This landscape banner caused the portrait to stretch to humorous proportions- dubbed Widejoy by the players. This lead to a majority of the playerbase to change to the stretched portrait, seeing matches with all players featuring our beloved Killjoy but stretched wider than her usual self.

The marketing team wanted to capitalize on this and show the base that we’re human and make mistakes. So we fired back with a trailer of our own featuring a new gameplay mode where you can play as the actual Widejoy. Though there was no gameplay mode and instead players were gifted a portrait of Widejoy spray to immortalize this meme in-game.

This was a dream come true for me as I’ve always wanted to play a April Fool’s joke on players - calling back to the OG prank where Nintendo Power tricked players into thinking they could catch Luigi in-game.
